ABOUT OUR LEAD CLINICIAN

CONNIE ABEL-VILLASMIL, LCSW

Connie Abel-Villasmil is a licensed social worker with a Master of Social Work from The Graduate College of Social Work University of Houston. She has worked in the social work field in the public and private health care system in the Greater Houston Area.  She has drawn expertise from working in medical settings and collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.

Prior to opening Think Talk Therapy she worked at The Menninger Clinic affiliated with The Baylor College of Medicine and The Methodist Hospital System where she had the opportunity to collaborate first hand with Dr. W. Walter Menninger; OCD Specialist John Hart, PhD; eminent author Jon G. Allen, PhD; Dr. Luis A. Fernandez Psychiatrist Specializing in Pharmacology and Psychosis and Peter Fonagy, PhD of the Anna Freud Center in London. Connie speaks fluent Spanish and has a committed interest in multicultural practice.

Our lead clinician is a trained psychotherapist specializing in working with adult individuals, families, children, adolescents, and young adults. Her primary treatment techniques are psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and supportive. Her general approach to the therapeutic relationship is warm, thoughtful, and collaborative.

Connie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences at The University of Houston-Downtown and, prior to going into social work, pursued an early career in Marketing and Advertising for ten years. She worked as an associate producer at a nationally broadcast news show and served as Media Relations Coordinator for a multinational oil business. Connie has lived and worked in Houston, AbuDhabi (UAE) and South America.
